The NFL’s all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith once said, “All men are created equal. Some work harder in preseason.” The Southeast Polk football team and many other students have been taking part in the summer workouts
the school has to offer. The workout sessions are at 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. The workouts consist of weights everyday, with Wednesday being a day off, and speed and agility followed by weights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
With everything going on, the coaches still never forget a “Finisher.” The finishers are the hardest part of the workout, as they work the athletes until failure. One wide receiver on the football team said, “The workouts are
really hard, but we all know that we are getting better and this is the path you have to take to succeed. The feeling after a hard workout like these can’t be beat.” If they keep this hard work up, the Rams won’t be beatable. Contenders for the
4A State Championship, Southeast Polk has two tough games against Dowling Catholic and Ankeny early in the season. However, the Rams are fully confident that those games will not be a problem.
